Building of a waste processing plant in the capital city of the Russian Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan, will be launched as early as late 2017, the Minister of Nature and Ecology of Russia, Sergey Donskoi, told reporters on Monday.

At present, applications from the companies willing to participate in the project for the plant construction are being accepted. “We will not provide final figures and data so far. The construction will start this year, following preliminary activities”, the Minister said.

Modern technologies of waste processing will be applied at this advanced facility. Instead of incineration, which has long been obsolete, heat treatment will be applied there.

Construction of the plant in Kazan is estimated at 20 billion rubles. The facility’s operation will reduce by 30% the volume of waste disposal in Tatarstan until 2022, as well as will help to improve the ecological situation in the region and create more jobs.
